GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College women's swim team concluded its season with a strong showing at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships, held Wednesday through Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Competing against the region's top swimmers, the Quakers delivered determined performances, setting personal bests and gaining valuable championship experience.
Guilford's competitors were
Emma Butts (Asheville, N.C.),
Bec Cormack (Forest Park, Ill.),
Josephine Hemmer (Greenbay, Va.), and
Alex Fox (Concord, N.C.).
In distance events, Cormack showcased endurance and consistency. Competing in the grueling 500-yard Free, Cormack clocked a time of 7:44.80, notching a personal best for the junior as she improved her time by 19 seconds. She also participated in the 200-yard IM, finishing with a time of 2:55.26.
Butts made her ODAC Championship debut, swimming in multiple events. She registered a time of 32.03 in the 50-yard Free and later competed in the 100-yard Breast, finishing in 1:36.09, scoring a lifetime best in both races.
Hemmer contributed to Guilford's efforts in the 200-yard IM, completing the race in 2:48.74, earning her a lifetime best. She also tackled the demanding 1650-yard Free, putting forth a determined effort, notching a time of 22:59.57.
Like Butts, Fox made her championship debut, competing in the 500-yard Free, etching a time of 7:03.15, surpassing her previous best of 7:08. The freshman also competed in the 100-yard back, finishing with a time of 1:21.33.
The Quakers showcased their teamwork and determination in several relay events, delivering strong performances across various distances. In the 200-yard Free relay, Guilford posted a time of 2:04.68, while in the 200-yard medley relay, they finished in 2:30.62. The team also competed in the 400-yard medley relay, recording a time of 5:31.27, and the 400-yard Free relay, where they clocked in at 4:41.87. Rounding out their relay efforts, the Quakers completed the 800-yard Free relay in 10:25.93, with each swimmer contributing valuable splits to their respective races.
This concludes Guilford's 2024-2025 season.
