GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College women's swimming team traveled to The Royce Reynolds Family Student Center Pool on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, competing in a tri-meet, hosted by cross-town rival, Greensboro College. The Quakers fell in both matchups, losing to Greensboro College, 72-56, and William Peace University, 126-28, on Friday and falling to GC, 91-35, and WPU, 125-25, on Saturday.
Guilford's competitors were
Lainey Crafton (Summerville, S.C.),
Josephine Hemmer (Greenbay, Va.),
Knox Butka (Pinehurst, N.C),
Alex Fox, and
Noelani Santana.
Friday
Crafton participated in two events, placing fourth in the 100 Yard IM with a time of 1:13:62. In the 50 Yard Breast, the sophomore notched a time of 37.25, earning her a third-place finish in the event.
Hemmer competed in two events, notching a third-place finish in the 200 Yard Free, posting a time of 2:42.47, followed by a third-place finish in the 500 Yard Free, clocking in at 7:21.38.
Butka contributed to the Quakers' efforts with a fourth-place finish in the 50 Yard Free, finishing with a time of 38.17.
Santana was a part of two races, securing a sixth-place finish in the 50 Yard Free, posting a time of 40.33 and a fourth-place finish in the 50 Yard Back at 44.93.
Wrapping up the first day, the Quakers participated in two relays, finishing third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, with a collective time of 2:36.87 and notching a weekend-best second-place finish in the 200 Yard Free Relay with a tally of 2:19:48.
Saturday
Crafton competed in three races, leading the Quakers with an impressive showing in the 50 Yard Free, securing a first-place finish, her first of the year, posting a time of 29.18. In the 100 Yard Back, Crofton notched another great placing, finishing third amongst the competition, with a time of 1:24:02.
Hemmer participated in three races. In her individual events, the senior posted a 3:10.92 in the 200 Yard Back, placing fourth overall in the race. In the 100 Yard Back, Hemmer placed in fourth with a time of 1:30.04.
Cormack and Santana also had contributing efforts, both participating in the 50 Yard Free. The junior posted a time of 36.08 placing fifth in the event, while the freshman tallied a time of 39.52.
The Quakers saw action in the 400 Yard Medley Relay securing a third place finish, with an overall time of 6:01.79.
Guilford will look to build momentum as they continue their season in a tri-meet against Hollins University and Sweet Briar College, hosted by Hollins University on Saturday, November 16nd. Meet time is to be determined.
