ROANOKE,Va.- The Guilford College swimming team traveled to Roanoke, Virginia on Saturday afternoon, competing against Hollins University and Sweet Briar for the second time this season.
Taking the water for Guilford were

Guilford first saw action in the 400-yard Medley Relay where the team of Alton, Hemmer, Crafton, and Jacocks placed second versus Hollins University with a time of 5:26.97.
Alton contributed to the Quakers' efforts with a sixth-place finish in the 200 Yard Free, notching a time of 2:48.16.
Hemmer showcased her endurance in the 1650 Yard Free, placing fourth with a time of 29:20.43. She also saw action in the 200 Yard Free, finishing fourth at 2:45.50.
Crafton participated in the 200 Yard Breast with a time of 3:08.40, tying for second and securing a new personal best. The sophomore also competed in the 200 Yard IM, finishing fourth with a time of 2:49.98.
Jacocks had an outstanding day in the office, securing two victories for Guilford. She claimed first place in the 200 IM with a time of 2:36.18 and followed up with another first-place finish in the 100 Free, clocking in at 1:00.44. This performance also marked a new personal best for the freshman.
Cormack was a part of three races. In her individual events, the junior secured a seventh-place finish, with a time of 2:55.26, a sixth-place finish in the 100 Free with a time of 1:17.93, and a fifth-place finish in the 500 Free, clocking in at 8:11.35.
Butka performed well in the 100 Back, securing a fourth-place finish with a time of 1:40.06. In the 50 Free, the sophomore notched a time of 37.47, earning her a sixth-place finish and a new personal record.
Butts saw action in three events. She delivered a strong effort in the 50 Free, placing fifth with a time of 33.95, third in the 500 Free with a 7:38.22 finish, and a fifth-place finish in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:36.09, earning a personal best.
Santana participated in the 50 Free, earning seventh-place finish with a time of 38.12, surpassing her previous best, 39.52.
Guilford wrapped up the meet with an impressive effort in the 400 Yard Free Relay, but was unfortunately disqualified.
Guilford's next test will be November 22-23 as the team travels to Raleigh, North Carolina, to compete in the William Peace Invite, hosted by William Peace University. The start time is to be determined.
