Moore Highlights Volleyball Quartet Receiving CSC Academic All-District Recognition

Senior advances to national ballot for chance at Academic All-American honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Natalie Moore (Talbott, Tenn.) was selected to advance to the national ballot for Acadmeic All-Almerica consideration, leading four representatives of the Guilford College volleyball team selected to the Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, as Madison Duvall (Sophia, N.C.), Kaci Johnson (Winterville, N.C.), and Zoe Whisnant (Greensboro, N.C.) joined her as recipients of the honor, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

In order to qualify for the honor in volleyball, student-athletes must be at least an academic and athletic sophomore, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher in the classroom. Meanwhile, a nominee must have competed in 90% of the team's total games played, or start in 66% of the team's total games. No more than four student-athletes may be a nominee in volleyball per school, per gender with the Guilford volleyball team maxing out their Academic All-District honorees for the second-consecutive year.

Completing another All-ODAC-worthy campaign as one of Guilford volleyball's most-accomplished players ever, Moore started every set the team played this fall, finishing as the team-leader in points for the fourth-consecutive season with 374.0, the fifth-highest total in the ODAC and 165th-most in the nation while also ranking fourth in the league in points per set, at 3.86, good for 110th nationally. One of the most well-rounded players the ODAC features, the product of the Volunteer State paced the team in attacks, with 984, kills, with 306, and service aces, with 48, standing within the league top-10 and the national top-200 in all of those stats. Moore also was second on the team in digs with 256 and third in blocks, with 37.0, and registered the second-best reception percentage in program history, at .946. Like Johnson, Moore is a three-time honoree now, getting the distinction for the second time in volleyball on top of a track & field honor as a sophomore. Off the court, Moore maintains a 3.79 GPA in the GC Biology program. For her excellence on and off the court, she was selected as one of 133 players nationally to advance to the national ballot and be in the running for CSC Academic All-American honors, one of just four players in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) to move on with a chance at the distinction. The national ballot will factor in an athlete's academic and athletic achievement, in addition to their leadership on-and-off the pitch.

Returning to the starting lineup full time for her senior campaign, Duvall set career-highs across the board for the Quakers, emerging as one of the top blockers in the conference this fall. Starting in 26 of the team's 27 matches, Duvall played in 94 of GC's 97 sets this season, finishing second on the team in points, with 296.0 with her efficient, well-rounded attack. Swinging a team-best .263 rate among those with at least 100 attempts, the senior finished with 214 kills to rank third on the squad while also ranking third in aces with 35. Defensively, she was one of the top blockers in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), accruing 80.0 total blocks, slotting third in the league and 164th nationally, while averaging 0.85 blocks per set, the second-most in the conference and 143rd in the nation. Beginning work on her Masters in International Sports Management, Duvall is approaching the conclusion of her degree in Sports Management and owns a 3.62 GPA.

Johnson appeared in all 27 matches this season for the Quakers, starting 25 of them and playing in all-but-one set. She finished fourth on the roster in total points with 209.0, swinging .189 on her way to 186 kills. Tacking on three assists and 43 digs, the dual-sport star was Duvall's top blocking companion this season, with her 42.0 total rejections ranking within the top-20, in the conference. This marks the third time that Johnson has gotten CSC Academic All-District, having received the honor twice during her junior academic season, once in volleyball and once in softball. Studying in the Guilford Exercise & Sport Science program, Johnson owns a 3.57 GPA.

Whisnant is the final Quaker to get recognized this season having entered the starting lineup full-time in a breakout senior year. The versatile contributor was most-known for her defensive prowess during her 26 starts over 27 matches, appearing in 94 sets, as she registered 249 digs, the third-most on the team. She also contributed 18 assists, 16 aces, 18 kills, and a trio of blocks from good measure. The Gate City native while posted a .901 reception percentage, the fourth-best on the team, over 413 total reception attempts this fall, the second-most on the squad.
