Guilford Men’s and Women’s Basketball Adjust Weekend Doubleheader Due To Weather

Quakers matchups with Shenandoah, No. 6 Washington & Lee moved to Friday due to poor forecast

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College men's and women's basketball teams, in collaboration with both Shenandoah University and Washington & Lee University, and in the safety and best interests of all involved, have made a schedule change, moving their Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader up to Friday evening matchups, the departments announced on Wednesday.

The Quakers men's basketball team will now play Shenandoah on Friday with a tipoff time set for 4:00 PM in the Ragan-Brown FieldHouse. The powerhouse clash between the Guilford women's hoops squad and No. 6 W&L will follow suit, with an expected start time of 6:30 PM on Jack Jensen Court.

Saturday's originally scheduled celebrations are also going to be postponed. The Alumni Day celebrations will be pushed to the women's February 7th contest against Bridgewater College, while the men will gather with past Quakers on February 14th in conjunction with their game against Hampden-Sydney College, with both events being Winter Socials. Additionally, the recognition, banner unveiling, and ring ceremony for the 2024-25 ODAC Champion men's basketball squad will also now take place on February 14th. Finally, the honoring of Coach Jack Jensen, Brenda Davis '94, and Ben Strong '08, the trio of Quakers inducted as members of the inaugural class of the ODAC Hall of Fame, will now take place at halftime of the matchup against H-SC on February 14th.

The changes come with a significant winter storm bearing down on the region and with the adjusted dates, the department hopes for better road conditions for all participants, workers, and fans. In that vein, Guilford Athletics would like to emphasize the interest of safety as the games approach, and wish all attendees safe travels.
