NORMAN, Okla. – A revamped roster is up and coming for the Guilford College men's golf team who enters the season with reinforcements coming from their 2024-25 campaign, and it was reflected in the initial edition of the Bushnell/Golfweek DIII Preseason Coaches Poll, as they were ranked tied for No. 15, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Friday.
Led by Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) ranked sophomore
Luke Wise (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), the Quakers are looking to repeat their success on the national stage after finishing fourth out of eleven teams in the ODAC Tournament last season. Notable members to look out for from the 2024 Quaker squad will be looking to make some noise in the 2025 campaign are fellow returning scorer, junior
Andrew Perry (Fuquay Varina, N.C.), senior
Gavin Peach (Charlotte, N.C.), and junior
Larson Gallimore (Walnut Cove, N.C.). Meanwhile, with transfers
Samanyu Bedi (Pinehurst, N.C.) and
Lucas Falcone (Palm Peach Gardens, Fla.) also in the fold, GC looks to continue to churn out successful campaigns.
Guilford has plenty of ODAC and Region IV rivals in the mix at the national level. Conference rivals Washington & Lee, Lynchburg, and Hampden-Sydney all rank in the top-25 along with the Quakers leading up to the fall slate. The Quakers rank over the Tigers who are 19th in the poll. However, Lynchburg and Washington & Lee both rank in the top-ten at eighth and second, respectively. Other Region IV foes ranked alongside the Quakers in the top-25 are Emory, Sewanee, Oglethorpe, Huntington, Trinity (Tex.), and reigning National Champion Methodist.
Guilford opens up their new season in downtown Greensboro at the Gate City Invitational hosted by Greensboro College on September 15-16 at Forest Oaks Country Club.
