Garbia Brothers, Pless, & Santos Selected CSC Academic All-District For Men’s Soccer

Men’s Soccer program sees increase in athletic, academic excellence this fall

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Isaac Garbia (Copenhagen, Denmark), Jaykob Garbia (Copenhagen, Denmark), Jeremy Pless (Titusville, Fla.), and Dani Santos (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) all earned Collegiate Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team honors for the 2025 season, representing the Guilford College men's soccer team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

In order to qualify for the honor in soccer, student-athletes must be at least an academic and athletic sophomore, maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher in the classroom. Meanwhile, a nominee must have competed in 90% of the team's total games played, or start in 66% of the team's total games. No more than six student-athletes may be a nominee in soccer per school, per gender. The men's soccer program saw a quartet of players finish eligible for the honor this fall, up from their total of three honorees in 2024.

Transferring in for his junior season, Isaac Garbia was an instant-impact member of the Quakers men's soccer program, spurring the GC offense across his 18 matches and 17 starts adding up to 1,429 minutes on the pitch, the fourth-most on the team. Creating consistent pressure, Garbia attempted a team-leading 47 shots, good for a 2.61 per game average. That figure ranked within the national top-200, at 192nd in the nation, making him the first Quaker to crack the national ranks in that category since 2020. Through the end of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tournament, Garbia slotted tied for fifth in the league with his team-leading seven goals scored, showing a knack for making his tallies matter with a trio of tallies that proved to be game-winners, a total that ranks 83rd nationally and fifth in the conference. Adding a pair of assists to his line, Garbia finished with a team-best 16 points, ranking fifth in the ODAC. He owns a 3.68 cumulative GPA studying Cyber & Network Security Systems at Guilford.

The other Garbia twin, Jaykob Garbia, was equally important to Guilford's increased success this fall, ranking only behind his brother in scoring contributions. Playing in all 18 matches with 17 starts to rack up a team-high 1,492 minutes of time on the pitch, Garbia was GC's most-efficient threat offensively this season. Taking 34 shots, third-most on the squad, he had 22 of them threaten the frame, good for a .647 shot on goal percentage that easily paced the team among players with multiple shot attempts this fall. Slotting behind only his brother in points and goals on the team, with 14 and six respectively, Garbia also cracked the conference's top-10, finishing tied for 10th in points and tied for ninth in goals through the end of the conference tournament. The junior transfer also dished a pair of helpers. Studying Psychology at GC, Garbia owns an overall GPA of 3.84

Pless claims his second CSC Academic All-District honor this fall after also receiving the recognition last year during his one-season hiatus with Norwich University. It was a successful return for the senior defenseman, as he started all 17 matches he appeared in to accrue 1,465 minutes on the pitch, third-most on the team. An impact player from end line to end line, Pless was tasked with initiating a vast majority of the team's set pieces this fall and the yields were strong, setting up a quartet of Quaker goals with his four assists being good for a tie for sixth on the ODAC leaderboard. Defensively, he played a significant role in Guilford shaving over half a goal off their goals against average. Across a handful of stops during his collegiate career, Pless has pieced together a cumulative GPA of 3.61 and is completing his degree in Sports Management.

The only repeat-honoree for the GC men's soccer team this season, Santos had a big junior campaign in the midfield. Playing in 17 matches with 16 starts along the way, he played 1,197 minutes this fall for the Quakers. Held out of the points column on the stat sheet across his 12 shots attempts, seven of them on-target, Santos backed off into a more defensive role anyways this fall for Guilford. The results were effective as he and the Guilford defense saw their goals against average drop to 1.94 this fall, compared to 2.56 last season, good for the best year-over-year improvement in the ODAC this season. Off the pitch, Santos progresses towards his degree with a 3.62 GPA as an Exercise & Sport Sciences major.
