GREENSBORO, N.C. – With fresh faces patrolling the sideline and the pitch, the Guilford College men's soccer team ushers in the
Sean Reilly era seeking a surge in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) and a return to postseason competition as the program announced their 2026 season schedule on Wednesday morning.
A textbook transition year with the Quakers changing coaching staffs and players, 2025 saw strides in the program throughout. GC increased their total victories mark for the second-straight year, tripled their ODAC points figure, and claimed their first league victory in three seasons. All told, Guilford finished with a scoring differential of -11, equaling their best full-season mark post-COVID, and completed the year with a record of 4-12-2 their best since 2022. Now, Coach Reilly enters with a core of contributors eager to continue their assent and establish a culture of success that led him to consecutive NCAA Tournament berths previously.
"We are really excited about the 2026 season and the challenges it will present as we look to set the foundation for sustained success," Head Coach
Sean Reilly said. "We are super excited about testing ourselves in friendlies against top-tier competition in both scrimmages and our two Division-I exhibitions. We think out nonconference slate is also strong and will greatly help prepare us for the rigors of competing in the ODAC."
Previewing the campaign, the Quakers will host a tandem of friendlies at Appenzeller Field, first welcoming Shaw University to the Gate City on Tuesday, August 18 at 7:00 PM then Carolina University on Wednesday, August 26 at 6:00 PM.
Opening the regular season, GC will matchup with Pfeiffer University for the sixth-straight year with this season being their turn to visit the 2025 USA South Regular Season Champions on Tuesday, September 1 at 7:00 PM. They follow that up with their home opener and crosstown rivalry clash, hosting Greensboro College on Saturday, September 5 at noon.
The matchup of the GC's is the first of five home games out of Guilford's ensuing six regular season clashes, hosting Methodist University, Southern Virginia University for their senior day on Saturday, September 12 at 1:00 PM, Mary Baldwin University, and finally Hampden-Sydney College for their ODAC opener on Saturday, September 26 at noon. Mixed among the cluster of contests in the GSO is a visit to Bluefield (Va.) University, as well as the first of their tandem of exhibitions opposite 2025 Division-I NCAA Tournament teams, first making the trip down to Elon University on Friday, September 25 for a clash against the reigning Coastal Athletic Association Champions at 7:00 PM.
After the H-SC encounter, the Quakers hit the road for five, visiting Bridgewater College for a conference clash, Johnson & Wales University (N.C.) for their nonconference finale, Eastern Mennonite University, and Randolph-Macon College. Between EMU and R-MC is GC's other exhibition against a standout Division-I host, heading to the defending Big South Conference Champions, High Point University, on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 PM.
A season defined by streaks at home and away, finishes with a cluster that features three matchups on their home pitch across their final five clashes, all ODAC games. In that span, Guilford hosts Randolph College, pay visits to Batten University and Averett University, then wrap up at home with Washington & Lee University and Roanoke College for their regular season finale.
If the Quakers crack the field of eight, the ODAC Tournament would begin on Saturday, October 31 with the subsequent round played on Wednesday, November 4 then the finals on Saturday, November 7.
