LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Guilford men's soccer team (3-11-2, 0-6-1 ODAC) headed up to Lynchburg for a midweek Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) showdown under the lights against Randolph College (5-8-3, 3-4-0 ODAC). The Quakers would hold dominant on the offensive front, firing 13 shots to the WildCats eight, however would not be enough to bring Guilford home with a win due to tough breaks on the defensive side of the ball, leading to a 2-1 decision in favor of Randolph on Wednesday evening at WildCat Stadium.
Ildis Vital-Peraza (Vienna, Va.) would draw the start for Guilford in goal for all 90 minutes in regulation. Vital-Peraza scooped up two saves, from two goals against, off of eight shot attempts. He would be on the losing end of the match, dropping his record to 2-10-1 on the season. Randolph's keeper, Dominic Cortes, was electric throughout all moments in net for the WildCats. Cortes snagged six saves, from one goal against, off of a shattering 13 shot attempts. He would end up victorious on the night, sending his record to 5-8-3 on the season.
Chris Hercules (Greensboro, N.C.) showed off his consistency throughout the evening with his one goal, off of two shot attempts.
Isaac Garbia (Copenhagen, Denmark) led the command for the Quakers, giving them numerous scoring opportunities with his three shot attempts, one on goal.
Jaykob Garbia (Copenhagen, Denmark) was determined to get Guilford on the board, firing two shot attempts, both being on goal.
Jeremy Pless (Titusville, Fla.) was a beneficiary to the Quaker offensive gameplay in the evening with his two shot attempts, one being on goal.
Corey Williams was on top for Randolph in their scoring momentum from his one goal on the night off of three shot attempts. Marcus Cortes would follow suit with his goal off of his lone shot attempt to maintain the WildCat lead. Anelka Ngoy ascended for Randolph in possession of the ball from his two shot attempts, one being on goal.
The game would kickoff with scoring early coming from the WildCat offensive gameplay, with Williams firing a ball to the low right corner of the net, assisted by Eyouel Samuel in the 3rd minute.
Foul troubles would continue as the period progressed, leading to an additional score from Randolph off of the Marcus Cortes penalty kick goal in the 35th minute to wrap up the opening half.
Randolph would open the second period, drawing various foul troubles leading to a Hercules PK goal, transpiring inside the 18 to open up the Quakers scoring in the contest during the 58th minute.
Guilford would send multiple chances towards the goal to seek a tie or a victory in the closing minutes of play. However would ultimately get shutdown by the Randolph defensive front, resulting in a 2-1 decision in favor of the WildCats.
The Quakers are back for one last home showdown of the year on Saturday for Senior Day against ODAC foe Eastern Mennonite University on Saturday, October 22nd, 2025 at Appenzeller Field in the Armfield Athletic Center. First kick at 3:00PM.
