TROUTMAN, N.C. - The Guilford College triathlon team competed in the NCAA East Regional Championship on Saturday morning at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, N.C. with
Sadie Cyr (Hadley, Mass.) leading the pack and earning a National Championship invite with a top-10 finish.
Cyr claimed eighth among the 22 Division-III women's competitors hailing from five different schools. She posted a 12:30 swim time, fifth-best among competitors, as well as a 45:07 bike time, and 24:16 run time for an overall chip time of 1:24:03.7. Her run mark was a season-best for the freshman.
Bec Cormack (Forest Park, Ill.) and
Bess Parnell (Cairo, Egypt) also competed for Guilford, but did not finish. Cormack posted a swim time of 16:11, with Parnell close behind with a time of 16:19 before they were both lapped out on the bikes.
Cyr will hit the course one more time in two weeks, on Saturday, November 8th at the NCAA National Championship in Tempe, Ariz. Start time is to be determined.
