ELON, N.C. -- The Guilford College men's and women's cross country teams opened the season with the "Friday Night Lights" Elon Opener.

Josephine Hemmer was the lone representative of the women's squad. The freshman completed the course in a time of 19:26.6. She ran at a 4:52/K pace.

It was Nate Warden that led the men's team across the line. The rookie paced his squad with a time of 22:19.7. The next closest Quaker was Alex Rice who came in three minutes later (25:57.7).

Justin France, Will Nowatka and Gavin Kiley finished in that order all finishing within a minute of each other.

Guilford will return to action on Friday, September 24th for the Queen City Invite at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, N.C. The race is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
