KERNERSVILLE, N.C. - The Guilford College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Spartan Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro in Kernersville, N.C., Friday evening. The men's team finished twelfth among team finishes.
A twelve-team field factored into the team results in the men's 8k race, while fourteen teams posted scores in the women's 5k. The field was made up of NCAA Division-I, II, and III squads, as well as Junior College teams and unattached runners.
Yassine Aallam (Holly Springs, N.C.) was the top finisher on the men's side, earning 85th place out of 112 finishers, with a personal-best time of 31:57.2.
Jeremy Harway (Apex, N.C.) was close behind, finishing in 87th, with another personal-best on the day with a time of 32:19.8.
Ke'Shaun Alston (Warrenton, N.C.) also ran a personal-best time of 38:45.7 to finish in 105th place.
Tkwon Davis (Warren County, N.C.) and
Hayden Edwards (Asheville, N.C.) made their Quaker debuts, finishing 103rd and 107th respectively, with times of 37:57.9 and 39:18.3. Rounding out the finishers on the men's side were
Trenten Torian (Durham, N.C.) and
JC Yañez (Thomasville, N.C.) who finished 104th and 110th with times of 38:21.4 and 41:21.1 respectively.
On the women's side,
Piper Campbell (Wilmington, N.C.) had the top Quaker finish in the women's 5k, placing 69th out of 99 finishers, with a time of 23:53.9.
Alyssa Daniel (Spring Lake, N.C.) was the only other finisher for Guilford on the women's side, placing 77th with a personal-best time of 25:20.9.
Cross country will return to the course next on Friday, October 10th to compete in the Livingstone XC Challenge hosted by Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C. Start time and meet details have yet to be released.
