SHELBY, N.C. – The Guilford College men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Yeti Invitational hosted by Cleveland Community College in Shelby, N.C. on Saturday morning. The men's team finished fourth among team finishes.
A four-team field factored into the team results in the men's 8k race, while only one team finished with scores in the women's 5k race. The field was comprised of NCAA Division-III, NAIA, NCCAA, and Junior College schools, along with unattached runners competing.
Jeremy Harway (Apex, N.C.) was the top finisher on the men's side for the Quakers, finishing 18th out of 29 competitors, with a time of 35:51.64 in the 8K race. Rounding out the Quaker finishes on the men's side were
Trenten Torain (Durham, N.C) in 26th place with a time of 42:07.06
, JC Yañez (Thomasville, N.C.) in 27th place with a time of 42:26.08,
Cedric Blowe (Indian Trial, N.C.) in 28th place with a time of 45:47.51, and
Ke'Shaun Alston in 29th place with a time of 45:52.45, making this a new personal best for the freshman.
On the women's side,
Piper Campbell (Wilmington, N.C.) had the top finish in the women's 5k race for Guilford, earning herself a Top-10 finish, placing sixth out of 22 competitors, with a time of 24:09.40. Shortly behind her was
Sadie Cyr (Hadley, Mass.) with an eighth-place finish and a time of 25:11.07 in her Quaker debut.
Bess Parnell (Cairo, Egypt) finished in 12th place with a time of 26:13.52, and
Alyssa Daniel (Spring Lake, N.C.) was the final finisher for the Quakers, earning a 15th place finish with a time of 27:07.46.
Cross country will return to the course next on Friday, October 3
rd to compete in the Spartan Classic hosted by UNC Greensboro in nearby Kernersville, N.C. Start time and meet details have yet to be released.
