ASHLAND, Va. – One day after clinching a berth in the ODAC Men's Lacrosse Tournament with a 17-13 victory over Shenandoah, Guilford ended its season with a 15-10 setback to Randolph-Macon on Sunday, May 1st.

The Yellow Jackets (6-7) converted 10 goals in the second half after clinging to a 5-4 lead at the intermission, while limiting Guilford (3-5) to six second-half goals.

Guilford was led offensively by the quartet of Connor Sweeney, Derek Zacatenco, Brennan Sweeney and Bryce Craig, who netted two goals apiece. Brennan Sweeney also contributed three assists for the Quakers.

Jack Averna and Derek Marsilo came through with three goals each for the Yellow Jackets. Netminder Harris Archer (2-1) claimed the win by making 16 saves in 60 minutes. Jack Rogers also came through with 16 saves for the Quakers.

Brennan Sweeney opened scoring for the Quakers and handed out an assist to Connor Sweeney for the 2-0 Guilford lead in the opening half. Zacatenco netted the final goal of the opening frame to provide the 3-1 lead.

Randolph-Macon answered with four goals in the second half, all from different sources, while Connor Sweeney claimed the lone goal of the frame for the Quakers.

The offensive rhythm established in the second carried over into the third for the Yellow Jackets, who received two scores from Jack Smith in the frame to establish a 10-6 lead. The two Quaker goals in the frame came off the stick of Brennan Sweeney and Craig.

Randolph-Macon tacked on five more goals in the fourth and final quarter, including two from Averna, to claim the five-goal victory. Guilford responded with four, but was never able to pull within closer than four goals of the Yellow Jackets.
