Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College's Adam Fiore had a goal and season-high six assists in the Quakers' convincing 22-5 win over visiting Alfred State College Wednesday.
Including Fiore, 14 different Quakers (4-1) dent the twine in the team's second 20-goal outing of the season. Guilford last had multiple 20-goal games in 1992.
Guilford scored the game's first three goals as Connor Manning dominated the face-off circle to help the Quakers retain possession. Teddy Alvardao got the Pioneers (0-4) on the scoreboard midway through the first quarter before Guilford answered with nine straight scores, three by Alex Brownlee. Alfred State's Aaron Buck scored 1:26 before halftime, which made the Quakers' edge at intermission, 12-2.
The second half featured more of the same as the Guilford substituted liberally. Fiore set up goals by Daniel Hughey and Jace Sowden before netting one himself for a 15-2 third-quarter advantage. Alvarado scored a man-up goal for the Pioneers before Guilford ripped off seven straight scores and took a 21-2 lead with three minutes left in regulation.
