Box Score WINCHESTER, Va. – Chase Clausen scored two of his team-high three goals in the third quarter of Guilford College's 19-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win at Shenandoah University Saturday. The Quakers (8-7, 3-5 ODAC) outscored the Hornets, 8-1, in the period, which broke open a three-goal game.
Adam Fiore and Nick Mann also scored three times as 11 different Quakers tickled the twine. Clausen and Mann also had assists, which gave them a team-high four points.
Matt Justice scored his first of four tallies for Shenandoah 4:52 into the game for a 2-1 Hornets' lead, but the Quakers reeled off the next five scores, two by Fiore. Justice scored 66 seconds before halftime, which made it a 6-3 Guilford lead.
The Quakers came out firing after intermission and scored seven straight goals before Justice netted his third score of the game. Guilford unleashed 17 shots and committed just one turnover in the third quarter. Clausen's man-up goal with seven seconds left capped the Quakers' most prolific quarter of the season.
Guilford owned a commanding 55-33 edge in ground balls and was led by Juquan Tellis' career-high nine pickups. Connor Manning added seven ground balls and won a career-high 17-of-23 face-offs for the Quakers. Thomas Deane played just over three quarters in goal for Guilford and made seven of the team's 10 saves.
Justice's four goals paced the Hornets, who were outshot, 49-28. Sean Ohlhaver added two goals and an assist. Tyler Quinn had 16 stops in goal for Shenandoah (5-9, 0-7 ODAC).
Guilford hosts Virginia Wesleyan College Saturday (4/27) at 1:00 p.m. in its regular-season finale.
