Guilford Drops, 17-2, ODAC Decision to Washington and Lee

GREENSBORO, N.C. (4/3/10) -- Visiting Washington and Lee University cruised to a 17-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's lacrosse victory at Guilford College Saturday. The Generals, ranked 13th in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III Poll, used 14 different goal scorers to improve to 9-3 on the year (3-1 ODAC).

Senior attackman Will Keigler, senior midfielder Max Mancuso and junior attackman Drew Mancini all scored twice for Washington and Lee. Keigler scored twice in the first quarter, which sparked the visitors to a 6-0 lead after 15 minutes.

Sophomore attackman Chris Sisk's man-up goal 1:39 into the second quarter got Guilford on the scoreboard, but Washington and Lee reeled off the game's next five goals. The Generals led, 8-1, at halftime and 11-1 before the Quakers' sophomore attackman Daniel Dowd scored his team's second and final goal.

The Generals enjoyed a 45-13 advantage in shots and doubled the Quakers in ground balls, 44-22. Senior defenders Tyler Smith and Garrott McClintock University School) both picked up a team-high four loose balls and Smith caused a game-high three turnovers. Senior goalie Matt Mason made four of the Generals' six saves in the first half before giving way to his team's reserve netminders.

Guilford junior goalie Mark Guillen made 13 saves and had five ground balls, both game highs.

The Quakers (1-10, 0-3 ODAC) host Oberlin College Sunday (4/4) in a 1:00 p.m. nonconference game in the Armfield Athletic Center.
