Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. (3/6/10) -- Cal Napolitano scored three goals to lead visiting Eastern University to a 13-5 nonconference lacrosse win at Guilford College Saturday afternoon.
Napolitano noticed the first goal of the game 3:40 into the first quarter and then again at the horn sounded en route to 5-0 lead at the end of the period. Will Johnson also scored two times and Michael Hofmeister had two helpers for the Eagles in the quarter.
The Quakers (0-4) struck back in the second period with back-to-back goals to narrow the lead to 5-2. However the Eagles tallied the final two of the first half to extend their lead back to five goals.
Hofmeister finished the match with a game-high four point on two goals and two asists for the Eagles (2-1). Eastern dominated the game outshooting Guilford 42-23, winning the ground ball battle (39 to 19), and possessing 14 of the 19 face-offs.
Guilford's Greg Nash led the Quakers with two goals. Daniel Dowd, Chris Ashcraft and Ken Keesee also tallied one goal apiece for Guilford. Guilford goalie Mark Guillen made a game-high 17 saves.
