Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. (2/9/10) – Sophomore Jazlyn Gibbs scored a career- and game-high 21 points in visiting Guilford College's 69-47 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over Lynchburg College Tuesday night. The Quakers' (12-9, 9-7 ODAC) third straight victory earned a sweep of the season series with the Hornets (4-16, 3-12 ODAC).
Guilford raced to a 12-0 lead and never looked back. Gibbs tallied 13 points in the opening half, which helped the guests to a 43-29 halftime lead. The Quakers made over 55 percent of their shots in the opening period and shot a season-high 48.3% for the game. The Hornets managed only 29.8% field-goal shooting in their sixth straight setback.
Four Quakers scored in double-figures, including sophomore Alexandria Miles, who hit for a career-high 14 points on seven-for-nine shooting from the floor. Teammate Jasmine Wood added 11 points and Ann Seufer finished with 10 markers, which upped her career total to 985. Seufer also had a season-high eight rebounds to share team-high honors with Alexa Williams.
Tamara Snead led Lynchburg with 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Chevonne Booker added 13 points for the Hornets.
Guilford returns to action Sunday (2/14) against visiting Eastern Mennonite University in an ODAC game rescheduled from Feb. 6.
