Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (4/25/08) - Washington and Lee University jumped out to an 11-1 first-half lead en route to a 19-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's lacrosse victory over Guilford College Saturday evening at the Armfield Athletic Center.
The Generals (9-5, 5-1 ODAC) had 12 different players find the back of the net, including senior attackman Will Englehart, who scored twice goals in a five-goal run to game-opening run.
Guilford (2-12, 0-6 ODAC) got on the board with 1:50 left in the first quarter as freshman midfielder Mark Halip scored a man-up tally off an assist from senior attackman Todd Bochenek to make it 5-1. Washington and Lee scored the game's next 12 goals and took a 17-1 into the fourth quarter.
Englehart finished with three goals, while senior attackman Ned Rider tallied twice and a game-high three assists. Junior midfielder Tim Skeen added two goals and two assists, and junior midfielder Harry St. John chipped in two goals and one assist. Junior Connor Locke and freshmen Ned Lundvall and Jason Lumpkin all played in goal for the Generals and combined for six saves.
Senior attackman Colin Davis also found the net for the Quakers. Seniors Andrew Vigne and Ian MacPhail both played in goal for Guilford and combined for 15 saves.
Bochenek's assist gives him 65 for his career, which ranks sixth in school history. Vigne concludes his career with 674 saves, the third-leading total at Guilford.
Washington and Lee returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Virginia Wesleyan College in an ODAC Tournament semifinal slated for 4:30 pm. The Generals are seeded second in the four-team tourney.
