Virginia Wesleyan Defeats Guilford, 16-2

Virginia Beach, Va. (4/18/08) -- Jordan Kenney scored four goals and Brett Morris added three scores and four assists in host Virginia Wesleyan College's 16-2 Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's lacrosse win over Guilford College Saturday.

The Marlins opened the scoring 14 seconds into the game when Maicin Dunk set Josh Riley's goal for the first of his five assists on the day. Kenney had two first-quarter goals and Dunk's lone goal off a Morris feed with 15 seconds left in the opening period gave the hosts a 5-0 lead.

Virginia Wesleyan score all three second-quarter goals for an 8-0 halftime lead and enjoyed an 11-0 edge before Guilford's Tyler Zivic got the Quakers (2-10, 0-5 ODAC) on the board with 8:22 left in the third quarter.

Ten Marlins scored goals in the game, including Drew Langis, who had two goals. Virginia Wesleyan enjoyed a 68-19 advantage in shots and picked up 45 ground balls to Guilford's 29.

Senior Carl Farlow scored the Quakers' second goal late in the fourth quarter, the first of his career. Andrew Vigne made 16 saves in goal for Guilford.

The Quakers returns to action Wednesday night against visiting Greensboro College at 7:00 p.m.
