Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (12/1/08) -- Guilford junior Joclyn Terry scored 11 of her 13 points, including a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line, during overtime to provide the difference and give the Quakers a 72-64 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over Emory & Henry.
Guilford (2-3, 1-1 ODAC) took control of the game building an eight-point halftime lead behind the scoring of Tracey Croner and Ann Seufer, who finished the game with 16 and 11 points, respectively. The led by as many as 16 points early in the second half before Emory & Henry went on a 13-3 run. Freshman forward Alexandria Miles controled the glass pulling down a game- and career-high 14 rebounds.
The Quakers' performance spoiled a furious comeback by Emory & Henry (1-3, 0-1 ODAC), who erased a six-point deficit with 1:14 remaining in regulation to force the extra period. The Wasps were led by Alex Lyons, who notched a double-double, scoring a game-high 25 points and pulling down 11 boards. Her efforts were complimented by Baylie Snyder's 11 points and Tuesdee Woods' 10 points.
The Quakers, who shot 37 percent from the floor, scored 12 of the first 14 points in overtime to permanently take the lead. Guilford connected on 11 of 16 attempts from the charity stripe, denying the Wasps the opportunity to get back in the game.
The Quakers travel to ODAC-rival Washington and Lee Wednesday (12/3). The Wasps continue their road-trip with a league-tilt against Lynchburg College Friday (12/5). Both games tip off at 7:00 p.m..
