Guilford Downs Hollins, 77-42

ROANOKE, Va. (1/6/09) — Ann Seufer led four Quakers in double-digit scoring with a game-high 15 points in Guilford College's 77-42 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win at Hollins University Tuesday night. The Quakers (4-6, 3-2 ODAC) forced 42 Hollins turnovers to snap a three-game losing streak.


Seufer scored 12 points and the Quakers' defense forced 22 turnovers in the first half, leading to 21 Guilford points. With the game scored at 12-12, the Quakers reeled off 14 straight points to open a 26-12 lead. Lauren LeFevers scored nine of her 11 points during the burst.

Guilford's Shevon Hackett scored 12 points off the bench, matching her career high. Tracey Croner added 10 points and rookie Laura Kopald notched seven points and seven rebounds, both personal bests.

Tamara Phillips and Emily Long both scored 11 points for Hollins (0-8, 0-4 ODAC). Long added 11 rebounds. Teammate Jeanette Price had five points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Hollins won the battle of the boards, 50-39.

Guilford returns to action Friday (1/9) against league-rival Bridgewater College at 7:00 p.m. Hollins hosts league-leading Virginia Wesleyan College Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
