Greensboro, NC (4/13/05) -- Senior attackman Billy McCulloch and junior midfielder Brian Kemper scored three goals apiece in visiting Lynchburg's 14-1 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's lacrosse win at Guilford Wednesday afternoon. The Hornets (8-4, 2-2 ODAC) are ranked 11th in this week's STX/United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division III National Poll.

Lynchburg methodically controlled the ball and made sure the Quakers did not build on Saturday's ODAC win over Virginia Wesleyan (Guilford's first ODAC triumph since 1993). Freshman attackman Ryan Cranston and McCulloch connected within 39 seconds of each other less than two minutes into the game. Kemper scored all of his goals in the second quarter as the Hornets built an 8-0 halftime lead that grew to 13-0 before Guilford senior Eddie Massello averted the shutout with 1:36 left in the game.

With the Hornets winning 16 of 19 face-offs, and corralling 26 of the game's 41 ground balls, Guilford struggled to possess the ball. Lynchburg outshot Guilford, 51-15. When the Quakers took a shot, freshman goalie Garrett Curran usually stopped it for one of his eight saves. Ten different Lynchburg student-athletes tickled the twine and 12 Hornets scored at least one point. Kemper and McCulloch, the team's top scorer, both finished with four points on three goals and an assist. Junior midfielder A.J. Tinklepaugh added a goal and two helpers. Lynchburg's junior midfielder Scott McAlee won all nine of his face-offs.

Guilford freshman goalie Andrew Vigne made 16 saves and yielded 13 goals in just over 54 minutes of work.

The Quakers host fourth-ranked Roanoke Saturday (4/16) at 1:00 p.m.
