Guilford Takes 85-74 ODAC Women's Basketball Decision From Hollins

Greensboro, NC -- Junior guard Jennifer King matched her career high with a game-best 25 points in host Guilford's 85-74 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over Hollins Tuesday night. Freshman Brittiany Green and senior Courtney Hill each posted double-doubles in the Quakers' (6-13, 4-11 ODAC) best offensive showing of the season.

 

King netted 15 of her points in the opening half, which saw the Quakers shoot 51.6 percent from the floor and open a 48-34 halftime lead. Guilford's 48 first-half points marked a season-best. The lead grew to as many as 18 points and Hollins (5-12, 2-11 ODAC) never drew closer than 10 points in the second half.

 

Green had a double-double in the first 20 minutes and finished with a career-high 19 points and game-best 14 rebounds. Hill notched her fourth double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Dionne Graham played all 40 minutes and had a career-high eight assists, four steals and six points. Rookie forward Katie Spina contributed a career-high eight points off the bench. The Quakers enjoyed a 48-30 rebounding advantage.

 

Freshman Nicole Grant led Hollins with 20 points and eight rebounds. Senior Brandi Cochran contributed 18 points and four boards. Junior LeighAnn Woodley contributed 11 points and three assists.

 

      The Quakers salvaged a split of the season series with Hollins and improved their lead in the overall series to 30-2.

 

      Guilford hosts Bridgewater Saturday (2/5) at 4:00 p.m. in ODAC play. Hollins plays at Randolph-Macon Woman's College Thursday (2/3) at 7:00 p.m.
