King and Hill Rally Quakers Women's Hoops Past Hornets 82-64

Box Score

Greensboro, NC -- Junior Jennifer King and senior Courtney Hill rallied Guilford from a 39-36 halftime deficit to defeat Lynchburg in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball action Saturday afternoon.

The Quakers (4-11, 2-8 ODAC) began quickly building a 11-0 lead behind the hot shooting of King and Hill.  The Hornets (7-9, 4-7 ODAC) fought back to take a 27-26 lead late in the first half, and led by three at halftime.  Guilford came out in the second half and tied the game on King's three-pointer, then took the lead for good and a lay-up by Hill.

King who set career highs with 25 points and 13 rebounds, was also 12-12 from the free throw line and had five steals and six assists.  Hill, the ODAC's fourth-leading scorer, poured in 24 points on 70 percent shooting from the field, and 10-11 from the charity stripe.  Freshman Lizzie Wilson added 13 points on three-of-five shooting from the three-point arc.

The Hornets were led by Caroline Wesley who scored 18 points and pulled down five rebounds.  Caroline Cubbage and Mandi Campbell each chipped in 11 points in the losing effort.

The Quakers look to build on their momentum Tuesday (1/25) as they visit ODAC rival Randolph-Macon Woman's College.  Game time is 7:00 p.m.  Lynchburg travels to Randolph-Macon also on Tuesday.
