Greensboro broke open a 4-2 game in the second quarter by scoring the first six goals of the period. Six different players tallied during the spurt, which helped the guests take an 11-3 halftime lead. Harness scored all of his goals in the first half.

Guilford's Ed Massello (Roanoke, VA/Roanoke Catholic) and Matt Wagner (Mill Valley, CA/Marin Catholic) tallied back-to-back goals to start the third quarter, which pulled the Quakers to within 11-5. The Pride successfully killed off a 30-second offside penalty on Harness and got scores from Perry and Leppert 47 seconds apart to regain an eight-goal advantage headed into the fourth quarter.

The Quakers scored the game's last two goals in the final 3:12 against backup goalie William Sepich (Ellicott City, MD/Mt. Hebron). He replaced starter Corey Reina (Baltimore, MD/Mt.
