GUILFORD WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL GAME

Greensboro, NC (01/12/03) -- Sophomore forward Courtney Hill (Kannapolis, NC/North Rowan) and junior forward Jennie Keichline (Chapel Hill, NC/East Chapel Hill) each posted double-doubles in Guilford's 72-54 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over visiting Hollins Sunday. The Quakers' fourth straight victory (and seventh in eight games) extended the team's school-record home winning streak to 17 games.

Hill scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the first half to help Guilford overcome an early six-point deficit and gain a 37-28 halftime lead. Junior guard Nicole McCrory (Charlotte, NC/East Mecklenburg) scored all five of her points during an 11-2 Quakers' run that broke a 26-26 tie and ended the half.

Hollins pulled within eight points early in the second half, but no closer. Guilford freshman Jennifer King (Reidsville, NC/Rockingham County) tallied all 12 of her points in the second period. She drained consecutive three-pointers to give Guilford a 63-46 lead with 4:49 left and put the game out of reach.

Keichline, who also had four blocks, recorded her first double-double of the year and the third of her career with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Hill added 10 boards to her 14 points for her second double-double in three games and the fourth of her career. King grabbed a career-high nine caroms and a team-high three assists. Sophomore guard Kristyn Casey (Jupiter, FL/Benjamin School) scored a personal-best eight points for the Quakers.

Hollins sophomore Brandi Cochran (Hillsville, VA/Carroll County), who started the weekend as the ODAC's top scorer, netted a game-high 16 points and made three steals. Freshman guard Coby Wilmer (Buena Vista, VA/Parry McCluer) added 11 points and sophomore center Katie Parnell (Lynchburg, VA/Holy Cross) posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds despite early foul trouble.

Guilford continues its five-game home stand Friday (01/17) against league-rival Eastern Mennonite at 7:00 pm. Hollins hosts Washington and Lee Tuesday (01/14) in a 7:00 pm ODAC tilt.
