Box Score Roanoke, VA (02/15/01) -- Junior guard Erin Beacham (Atlanta, GA/Lovett School) and freshman forward Jennie Keichline (Cary, NC/East Chapel Hill) each scored 14 points to lead visiting Guilford past Hollins Thursday night in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball action, 80-61. The win improved the Quakers' (17-6, 15-4 ODAC) record against Hollins (9-13, 6-12 ODAC) to 23-0.
Beacham hit for seven of her points during a decisive 9-0 Guilford run that turned a one-point lead into a 64-54 advantage with 6:10 remaining. The Quakers held Hollins to two Emily Ferrell field goals in the final 8:38 of the contest. Ferrell made five of seven three-point attempts and tallied a game-best 29 points.
Guilford freshman Kate Goodman (Salisbury, NC/West Rowan) scored 10 points and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds. Classmate Dara Burke (Richmond, VA/St. Catherine's School) added a career-high 11 points for Guilford. Senior forward Arden Miller (Landenberg, PA/Sanford School (DE)) scored nine points and had a game-high 10 rebounds. The Quakers enjoyed a 46-24 rebounding advantage.
Guilford closes out the regular season Saturday afternoon (2/17) with an important home game against Emory & Henry. The Wasps fell back into a second-place tie with Guilford when they were upset Thursday night by Lynchburg, 66-57. Saturday's finale will have great bearing on the seedings for next week's ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament in Salem, VA.
