FOREST, Va. – Posting a clean week in the box scores, Madison Motto (Waxhaw, N.C.) completed non-conference play flawlessly for the Guilford College women's soccer team, finishing shutouts of Greensboro College and Johnson & Wales University- Charlotte to be selected as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on September 20^th, as announced by the conference offices on Monday afternoon.

Motto is on a heater over the last ten days, making 21 savers over her last 22 shots faced across a trio of games, including her tandem of clean sheets this week. Excellent in the midweek, she faced eight total shots in the Quakers crosstown clash with Greensboro, saving all-seven shots that threatened the twine, completing arguably the premier performance of her still-young collegiate career. While she was tested less in her encore, Motto made a pair of saves against four total shots in her direction. Finishing with totals of nine saves on a dozen total shots faced, Motto also mixed in a cluster of strong defensive plays to deter scoring chances before even facing a shot, keeping the opposition at bay and allowing her team to maintain breakeven results.

Impressing in year two in the Gate City, Motto has a single unlucky evening intermixed with four superb outings so far this season. Pacing to surpass all of her 2025 marks, she has already racked up a trio of shutouts in frame in five games played after recording four over nine contests last fall. She has also mixed in a career-high 12-save, one-goal allowed outing against Brevard College and another shutout half in GC's no contest against North Carolina Wesleyan University, although it does not count towards her statistical totals. While her GAA is inflated by one tough night, Motto does own a serviceable mark of 1.03, but she pairs that with an .861 save percentage and 6.20 saves per game, ranking 75^th and 82^nd in Division-III women's soccer respectively. Meanwhile, Motto is the conference runner-up at the moment in both total saves, with 31, and shutouts, with three, trailing only Batten University's Allie Greco in the conference and standing tied for 22^nd in the nation in that latter stat.

Now up to seven career shutouts, making her the newest Quaker to crack the top-five for career clean sheets in the history of the women's soccer program, Motto also becomes the newest Quaker to join their list of all-time ODAC weekly honorees with her first Player of the Week nod from the conference. The first Guilford student-athlete to get ODAC recognition on the young season, she is the first women's soccer player to get an ODAC weekly honor since her predecessor in frame, Ady Franken '23, MBA '24 ripped off three-straight Defensive Player of the Week recognitions for the weeks ending on October 7, October 14, and October 21 back in 2024.

Motto and Guilford women's soccer play ODAC opponents from here on out, starting with their toughest foe to date, as they visit reigning league champions and No. 3 nationally ranked Washington & Lee University on Wednesday, September 23 at 6:00 PM.
