GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Guilford College women's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0-0 ODAC) battled Greensboro College (2-2-2, 0-0-0 USA South) to a scoreless draw Wednesday evening at the Armfield Athletic Center.
The Quakers and Pride played to a scoreless first half, with Greensboro holding a 3-0 advantage in shots. Madison Motto (Waxhaw, N.C.) kept the game even early, making two saves in the opening half. The Pride also hit the post late in the first half as Guilford's defense held them off the scoreboard.
Greensboro continued to apply pressure in the second half, finishing with eight total shots (seven on goal). Motto made five more saves after halftime to end the night with seven. The Quakers generated their lone shot of the match in the 65th minute when Sarah Bain (Haymarket, Va.) put a shot to the bottom middle of the net, that would be saved by Greensboro goalkeeper Alyssa Lane to keep the match scoreless.
Motto finished with seven saves, while Guilford's defense limited the Pride to eight total shots. Greensboro also end a 4-0 edge in corner kicks, but neither team could find the back of the net as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.
The Quakers return to action, Sunday, September 20, hosting Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte at 11:00 AM on Appenzeller Field at the Armfield Athletic Center.
