(RV) Golf Takes Home The Gold, Winning 20th ODAC Championship In Program History

Quakers achieve numerous bests in first conference championship since 2023

AMHERST, Va. – The (RV) Guilford College men's golf team came home with their 20th Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship title in program history, their the first since the 2022-23 season, resulting in their 27th NCAA Tournament appearance all time after a long and tedious three rounds at the ODAC Championship, on Sunday through Tuesday afternoon at Poplar Grove Golf Club.

In a windy and hilly setting for the conference final, the nation's best teams competed hard in all three days of the ODAC title match. No. 5 nationally-ranked Washington & Lee University and Randolph-Macon College battled as close contenders during all three rounds of action. The Generals placed as runners-up, marking out a 923 (+59) team total, with the Yellow Jackets placing bronze off a 926 (+62) tally as a squad. No. 1 nationally-ranked Jonathan McEwen for Washington & Lee received his second-straight individual medalist for the conference tournament, firing a 219 (+3) overall, narrowly edging out Gavin Peach (Charlotte, N.C.) for the top mark after back-to-back rounds in red figures by the Quakers senior. Guilford would ultimately come out on top after rising three spots on day two, recording a 904 (+40) as a squad to become ODAC Champions, by 19 strokes for the 2025-26 season.

Peach began with a mediocre start in this opener, logging a birdie on the par-3 seventh, while faltering through seven bogeys on the day to tally an 80 (+8) in round one. However, Peach would soar back quickly, recording the best individual score in rounds two and three, while matching his career-high 18-hole score of 70 (-2). Peach ultimately placed a career-high of second in the field, corralling a 220 (+4) individual score off three days of action.

Luke Wise (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) struggled to find his footing on the front nine with two double-bogeys before rebounding on the back nine with birdies on the par-4 tenth and the par-5 sixteenth for an opening round of 82 (+10). Wise improved slightly in Monday's round, scoring birdies on the par-4 first and par-4 14th for a 77 (+5) overall. Wise became a significant contributor to Guilford's day three success, collecting two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 eleventh for a 71 (-1) in the final round of play, firing a 230 (+14), finishing in a season-high position of T-8th.

Larsen Gallimore's (Walnut Cove, N.C.) round on Sunday did not contribute to the team score, shooting an 83 (+11). Gallimore jumped significantly up the leaderboard throughout Monday and Tuesday's rounds, recording nine combined birdies during the two outings. Gallimore festered a concluding 74 (+2) in the final round of action, firing a 230 (+14) individual score for T-8th overall.

Andrew Perry (Fuquay Varina, N.C.) kicked things off with a stellar performance in the first round of action, working through a double-bogey on the par-4 fifteenth to scavenge three birdies in Sunday's round, firing a 74 (+2). The final two clashes would become similar stories for Perry, propelling him up the leaderboard off birdie-driven back nines both days in securing an individual total of 232 (+16), marking out in T-12th.

Braeden Gillen (Holly Springs, N.C.) would continue his streak of solid performances in the first 18 at Poplar Grove, recording birdies on the par-3 thirteenth and the par-4 eighteenth to record 75 (+3) for his opening round. However, his solid performances would subside after not counting in team scoring during the final two rounds, tallying a 245 (+29) individually, tying for 41st overall.

Stay tuned for the announcement of the 2026 NCAA DIII Tournament field on NCAA.com, Monday, May 4th at 4:00 PM EDT. Guilford will travel down to battle the nation's best competitors for the NCAA Tournament at Mission Resort & Club on Tuesday, May 12th, through Friday, May 15th, in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
