FOREST, Va. – After a record-breaking tournament at the Sam Snead Collegiate,
Braeden Gillen (Holly Springs, N.C.) broke several career marks, warranting Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Golfer of the Week honors for the week ending on April 14th, as announced by the conference offices on Tuesday afternoon.
Gillen recorded a stellar outing throughout the final tournament of the regular season. The sophomore recorded four birdies in his opening round, tallying a 73 (+2) to keep the Quakers in the mix at the top of the leaderboard. Gillen would follow in the afternoon stanza with a record-shattering one-round score of 68 (-3), concluding with birdies on the par-4 eleventh, the par-5 sixteenth, and an albatross on the par-5 sixth. Gillen would ultimately conclude the match tied for tenth with a 218 (+5) individual score, surpassing his previous collegiate best three-round tally and tournament placement after Tuesday's final round.
Gillen currently holds a 76.09 scoring average per round in 22 rounds played. Gillen currently has three rounds of even par or better with one top-10 result.
Gillen will etch his name in the Guilford College Golf record book, receiving his first collegiate conference weekly recognition and the first for (RV) Guilford College Golf since the 2023-24 season, previously received by
James Alden '25 on the week of March 27th.
