FOREST, Va. – The Guilford College track & field team opened competition at the ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (hosted by Roanoke College) on Saturday afternoon, turning in several strong performances on day one.
Cedric Blowe (Indian Trail, N.C.) led the way on the track, placing 10th and gaining a personal best in the men's 60-meter preliminary round with a time of 7.17 seconds. On the women's side,
Alyssa Daniel (Spring Lake, N.C.) recorded a personal best of 8.33 seconds in the 60-meter prelims, finishing 14th overall.
In the distance medley relay, the Quakers' men's squad of
Tkwon Davis (Warren County, N.C.),
Ke'Shaun Alston (Warrenton, N.C.),
David Holland (Durham, N.C.), and
Jeremy Harway (Apex, N.C.) combined to finish ninth with a time of 12:18.41.
In the field events,
Bess Parnell (Cairo, Egypt) placed 18th in the women's long jump with a mark of 4.36 meters. Blowe added a 15th-place finish and another personal best in the men's long jump, recording a leap of 6.22 meters.
The Quakers return to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 1st, for the final day of competition at the ODAC Championships.
