Bower, Tingen Selected As Athletic Communications Graduate Assistants for 2025-26 Year

Pair of Athletic Communications Graduate Assistants to aid in coverage of Quakers Athletics

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Guilford College Athletic Communications Department is pleased to announce the addition of Aubrey Bower and Tyler Tingen in the roles of Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant for the 2025-26 academic year, as announced by the department on Monday afternoon.

"I am extremely excited to bring in these two outstanding young professionals who I firmly believe will be brilliant additions to our team both within Athletic Communications, and the department as a whole," Director of Athletic Communications, Bryce Johnson, said. "During the previous academic year, massive strides were made structurally and in the elevation of our standard that enhanced our Athletic Communications coverage, and that is thanks in large part to the work done by the great pair of individuals in this role prior. Aubrey and Tyler, I believe, will come in and will build on that, raising the standard of Quakers Athletic Communications with both their experience and skills, but more importantly, their energy and passion for collegiate athletics and the student-athlete experience. I am really excited to see what we can accomplish together through the upcoming year."

Aubrey Bower is a summa cum laude graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she earned degrees in Communication and English Writing. A member of the prestigious Media Fellows Honors Program, she also served as an on-air broadcaster for WGRE 91.5, DePauw's campus radio station. As a student-athlete on the track & field team, Bower brought her leadership off the field as well, serving on the executive board of the Diverse Athletes Association (DAA).

Bower's passion for athletic communications was sparked through her work as a student assistant with DePauw Athletics, where she covered all 23 varsity sports. In her senior year, she was promoted to a manager role of the student assistant team and selected to participate in the College Sports Communicators' national convention as part of its student program.

Bower thrives behind the camera, approaching sports information as both a technical and artistic craft. She is deeply committed to inclusive representation and authentic storytelling, utilizing visual media to showcase the individual humanity of each athlete while strengthening a collective sense of team pride.

An Old Dominion Athletic Conference alumnus, Tyler Tingen graduated in the summer of 2025 from Roanoke College with a bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science with two minors in Spanish and Sports Analytics. He was a part of the Roanoke Men's Golf program all four years in Salem, helping lead the Maroons to success through his leadership and mentorship of younger players and in pushing his teammates to success on and off the course. Tingen served as a team representative on the RC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and volunteered in many events run by both Maroons Athletics and the ODAC. He was a Sports Information Student Assistant and a Sports Analytics Intern. Since his freshman year as a Maroon, he worked with many student athletes, coaches, and front office staff members in making the Maroons Athletics experience grand through media production and analytics. He took his role at Roanoke to greater heights as he worked in many ODAC playoff and championship events in several sports involving media broadcasts and statistical production. Tyler also worked in the 2024 NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse and Women's Volleyball Championships as well as the 2025 NCAA Division-III Women's Basketball and Men's Volleyball National Championships hosted in Salem.

Off the course, Tingen was an active member of the Roanoke College community, participating in several volunteering and research projects through the Xi Theta Chi Foreign Language Honors Society and the Research Fellowship Program at Roanoke College. For his contributions as a student, campus community member, and athlete, Tingen was the 2025 recipient of the Paul W. Rice Award as Roanoke's senior student who made the most significant impact on campus life.
