PENFIELD, N.Y. – Advancing through a brilliant final season with the Guilford College golf program,
Evan Mendyk (Summerfield, N.C.) was named to the PING All-Region Team in Region 4, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Sunday night.
Already named to the All-ODAC First Team by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), the graduate student is headed to New York to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship after being an individual invitee to the event as one-of-ten selected to compete solo at nationals. Presently ranked No. 25 in the nation by Scoreboard, by Clippd, after peaking at No. 11 earlier in the spring, Mendyk compiled a superb season for GC. With three top-ten finishes including a pair in the top-five within the loaded Region IV, Mendyk combined steadiness with some outstanding spikes throughout the year. Posting a 72.4 round average that is a sliver above par, nearly half of his rounds played across the 2024-25 season have been at-or-below even with 12 of his 25 total trips around the course finishing at that mark. The ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year flexed his top event score of the season at the Gate City Invite, completing the event at seven-under. His best finishes were fourth at both the O'Briant Jensen Memorial and 52nd Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate events.
This marks the third-straight season in which the Quakers have put a player on the PING All-Region squad after seeing a pair of golfers, Michael Vick and Sam Davidson, get named All-Americans in 2023 before
James Alden (East Northport, N.Y.) was All-Region last year.
