GREENSBORO, N.C. – Headlined by top-30 finishes by
Andrew Perry (Fuquay Varina, N.C.) and
Luke Wise (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.), the Guilford College men's golf team marked a tied for sixth placement at the O'Briant Jensen Memorial Golf Tournament, as the host school on Monday at The Cardinal by Pete Dye, with Tuesday's round cancellation due to weather and course conditions.
A cold and rainy start to Monday morning's round would be in fruition as the Quakers prepared to face challenging competitors in the national field to conclude their fall tournament schedule. Just outside of the downtown triad, Guilford would host the nation's best at their home track of The Cardinal by Pete Dye for a lone 18-hole round. No. 1 nationally-ranked Huntingdon College would capture the title after their outstanding performance on a tough layout, firing a team-score of 295 (+11) which would pull-away from the rest of the field after the conclusion of the round. No. 10 nationally-ranked Methodist University would follow-suit with a solid performance in the tournament, finishing at 302 (+18) as a squad to capture second. North Carolina Wesleyan University's, Juan Amil, would be the event's individual medalist, with the lone non-overpar round of 71 (E) after 18-holes of play. The Quakers would face a steady competition from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) as the University of Lynchburg would finish slightly ahead of their rival competitors with a team score of 304 (+20) in third place overall. Bridgewater College would follow-suit, closing out the event tied for sixth at a team score of 308 (+24), being the only rivals the Quakers would fall to Guilford would ultimately taking down conference foes Averett University, Roanoke College, and Randolph-Macon College, scoring 317 (+33), 323 (+39), and 327 (+43), respectively. In the end, Guilford would tie for sixth place in the match, along with ODAC competitor Shenandoah University, at 311 (+27) overall.
Perry would lead the charge for Guilford to their first top-10 placement of the year. On the back of his four hole par-streak on the front nine and his six hole par stretch on the back, this would ultimately drive Perry to his top-mark of the year at 75 (+4) in 11th place.
After starting off at the wrong-end of the leaderboard after an opening four bogeys and one double-bogey at the par-4 fifth, Wise would flourish with an even par back nine finish, on the back of two birdies on both par fives. He would result with a 77 (+6) finish in the tournament, marking 30th in the standings.
Gavin Peach (Charlotte, N.C.) would conclude the Quakers lone home event with an up-and-down result. Peach's three birdies on the day on the par-5 fourth, par 5 tenth, and the par-4 thirteenth would send him up the leaderboard to fire a 79 (+8) on the match.
Larsen Gallimore (Walnut Cove, N.C.) wrapped up with a reliable performance to move Guilford up to the top of the field. Although with a shaky ending to his back-nine, Gallimore would cruise throughout the front nine, proceeding to a round of 80 (+9), tying for 59th in the standings.
Braeden Gillen (Holly Springs, N.C.) rounded out the Quakers with a mediocre performance to not count for the team score. After not gaining his footing in Monday's round, he would conclude with an 85 (+14) on the day, finalizing in 95th place finish in the match.
Nick Baum (Roaring Spring, Pa.) competed for Guilford as an individual, but did not influence team scoring. Baum placed 42nd, with a round of 78 (+7), as the top individual-scorer for the Quakers.
Samanyu Bedi (Pinehurst, N.C.) and
Lucas Falcone (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) would also compete as individuals throughout the tournament. Bedi would mark a placement of T-59th, with an 18-hole score of 80 (+9). Falcone would result in 84th after the lone round, scoring an 83 (+12) overall.
The Quakers will not be back on the course until the next calendar year, opening up their spring tournament slate at the Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College on Monday March 2nd, 2026 through Tuesday March 3rd, 2026 at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Mount Berry, Ga.
