Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Guilford College women's soccer team took down Salem College 2-1 on Sunday. The Quakers close out the opening week of the season a perfect 2-0.
It was host Salem that scored first, able to capitalize on a 2-on-1 early on in the first half (17:03).
Guilford used a goal in each of the halves to fuel its victory.
The first half goal was scored by Claire Hill just three minutes after the Spirits' goal (20:52). Owning the assist on Hill's goal was Crystal Rivas.
Rivas was responsible for the game-winner, scoring at 66:56 on a free kick. This is Rivas' second goal of the season, as she posted the lone goal against William Peace earlier this week.
For her second win in goal this season, Ady Franken made four saves.
GC out shot Salem 17-12.
The Quakers will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as they travel to faceoff against the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan.
