HOW IT HAPPENED
-
Almost as if the time change threw both teams off their game, the first half was slow and came to an end with the score still knotted at 0-0.
-
The only solid scoring opportunity in the first half was owned by McKaley Boston with 17:50 remaining in the opening stanza. Boston's shot was nearly dead on, but knocked off the crossbar and back into play.
-
JWU had a solid attempt to make the scoreboard as it found itself on a breakaway in the 56th minute of the contest. The Wildcats attempt was stopped by a stellar Quakers' slide tackle.
-
It was Crystal Rivas who notched the game-winning goal for Guilford, as she won in a tough battle with a defender for nearly 20-yards before beating the goalie bottom right side with 29:45 remaining in the contest.
-
The Wildcats had a last ditch attempt to even the score and force extra time, as a long Katie Douglass shot from 30-yards out ricocheted off the crossbar with three seconds remaining.
QUAKERS' TOP PERFORMERS
-
Getting her second-career start, Khalia Jones tallied four saves.
-
Rivas continues to lead her squad in scoring, as she now has seven goals on season. This was her 5th game-winner of the season. The Charlotte, N.C. native is tied for first in all of Division III in this category.
