HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Guilford was quick to show off its offense, as Claire Hill sent a shot down a shot that bounced just wide of the goal two minutes in the contest.

  • It was the Quakers who made the scoresheet, as Katie Kaznowski was able to redirect a Crystal Rivas pass to make it 1-0 halfway through the opening half.

  • The visiting Royals wasted no time to even the score, finding the back of the goal less than two minutes later at 24:39.

  • Both teams gave their best to end the game in regulation, but nothing seemed to work out.

  • EMU had control of the ball with 25 seconds remaining in regulation on a near breakaway, but it was Hill that executed a slide job to keep the game knotted at 1.

  • To open the first overtime period Madison Green had a breakaway, but was stopped by the Royals' defense.

  • The second overtime was all Guilford, as it posted four solid attempts.

    • The first on-goal attempt was by Rivas, who's laser was absorbed by the breadbasket of the visiting keeper.

    • Attempt number two was owned by Hill, who took a shot on-goal directly off a corner in the 104th minute of the contest.

    • Hill's shot led to a busy netfront, which allowed Kaznowski a shot.

    • The last on-goal attempt was owned by Madison Green with three minutes left.

  • Guilford peppered the EMU goalie with 15 shots on-goal. They also won the shots count, 28-4, with six coming in the overtime periods.
