Green Scores as Guilford Shuts Out Shenandoah on the Road

WINCHESTER, V.A. -- The Guilford College women's soccer team took down the conference leading Shenandoah University Hornets on the road Saturday, 1-0.

 

THE BASICS

  • Score: Guilford 1, Shenandoah 0

  • Records: Guilford 8-4-1 (2-3-1 ODAC), Shenandoah 8-6-1 (4-1-1 ODAC)

  • Location: Sprint Field - Winchester, Va. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • A well matched pair, each team was able to record one shot on-goal in the first half, while the hosts also added a few off the mark attempts as well.

  • Guilford was able to break through the Shenandoah defense early in the second half, as Madison Green recorded that game-winning-goal at 54:22.

  • Five minutes after GC's tally, SU swapped out their goalies.

  • A win not without a fight by the defeated, the Hornets put up six shots after the Quaker score, two of which were on goal. 

 

QUAKERS' TOP PERFORMERS

  • In goal for the Quakers, Ady Franken made four saves to move her season record to 6-4-1, good enough for fourth in the ODAC. Franken is currently second in the conference in saves with a total of 77.

  • Saturday's goal was the first of Madison Green's career.

 

NEXT GAME

Guilford will take on Hollins University at home on Tuesday in a 6 p.m. meeting.
