Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. - Greensboro College's Sarah Connolly posted nine RBI over the afternoon as Guilford College dropped Wednesday afternoon's doubleheader with Greensboro. The Pride claimed both games, 11-2, in five innings.
Greensboro (21-13) jumped on the Quakers (20-10) to start game one with five hits that drove home five runs in a top of the first inning elongated by an error. The Quakers responded in the bottom of the third inning to get on the scoreboard with a double steal attempt. The Pride posted a four-run rally in the top of the fourth frame, capped by a three-run home run from Connolly to extend the Greensboro lead. Greensboro posted two runs in the fifth frame to put the game out of reach even as the Quakers rallied in the bottom half of the inning to post two hits and bring home a run on a fielder's choice from Shelby Helms.
The Pride posted all 11 runs in the first three innings of game two, led by Connolly's grand slam in the first inning, one of two Greensboro home runs in game two. The Quakers fought back in the bottom of the fourth inning with back-to-back home runs on the first two at-bats of the inning as Savannah Yale and Sabrina Moreno connected to put the Quakers on the board. Moreno's home run is her eighth of the season.
Moreno finished the afternoon two-for-five with one RBI off the solo home run. Casey Snead and Caroline Barnette each posted multi-hit efforts in game one, each batting two-for-three. Taylor Boyd finished the doubleheader two-for-three with a walk.
The Quakers look to rebound Sunday, facing Lynchburg College in a key ODAC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
