Softball’s Gray, Williams Repeat As All-ODAC Honorees

Quaker tandem make history individually at end of standout season

FOREST, Va. – Shiloh Gray (Lexington, N.C.) and Kalissa Williams (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) duplicated as all-conference performers for the Guilford College softball team as they were recognized by the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) with Gray making the All-ODAC Third Team on top of a Second Team nod for Williams as announced by the conference offices on Thursday morning.

The Quakers yield multiple all-conference honorees for the 19th time in the program's 23-year history as members of the ODAC, excluding the 2020 COVID season when no postseason awards were dispersed. Both Gray and Williams make pretty distinct history with their selections as well. Gray becomes just the sixth member of the softball program to be a three-time All-ODAC honoree, and the first in seven years with the program's lone four-time pick, Makayla Carver '19, was the last to join the exclusive group for GC. As for Williams, she sweeps All-ODAC honors through her years as an underclassman, becoming just the fifth Quaker to be an all-conference pick as both a freshman and sophomore and also the first since the aforementioned Carver.

Despite seeing her numbers improve across the board, Williams actually drops to the All-ODAC Second Team this season at the designated player position after receiving First Team honors in 2025. She saw decent run in the circle, tossing in 11 games including seven starts, slashing her ERA in half in three-times the innings, posting a 5.59 mark over 36.1 frames, but those contributions were secondary as Williams really earned this honor with her bat. Appearing in 39 of the team's 40 regular season contests and starting all-but-one of those games, she finished the regular season pacing Guilford in most major offensive statistics, including all three triple-slash marks, with a .429/.511/.625 line leading to a team-best 1.136 OPS, ranking within the league's top-ten in all of those categories. A team-leading 10 doubles and four home runs were among her 49 regular season hits, ranking ninth in the ODAC and 118th in the nation at the regular season's conclusion and contributing to a team-high 71 total bases that were good for eighth and 181st respectively. She also led GC in RBIs with 23 and drew nearly twice the walks compared to any of her teammates, with 19. Williams' four homers were second-most on the team and cracked the national top-250 at the end of the regular season while her batting average was good for sixth in the league and 152nd nationally, and her OBP of .515 was her best ranking stat of fifth in the ODAC and 109th in Division-III entering postseason play. Forget the lofty .400 mark, Williams exceeded a .500 batting average in GC's most-meaningful contests, finishing as the only qualified player in the ODAC to get a hit in over half of her at-bats in conference play with a .521 mark, while also being the only person in the league to get on base at over a 60% clip with a .607 OBP. Against ODAC foes, she also slugged .708 fourth-best in the league, and recorded an OPS of 1.315, second only to ODAC Player of the Year, Morgan Tucker of Virginia Wesleyan.

Tripling-up as an at-large honoree on the All-ODAC Third Team, Gray made it consecutive campaigns earning a nod as a utility player for GC. The ace of the Quakers throughout her five seasons, Gray was strong in the circle yet again, leading the team in almost every stat in the circle. Pitching a squad-high 67.1 innings over 17 appearances including 11 starts, Gray finished 6-6 with a 3.33 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and .275 batting average allowed on the year. Among her outings were six complete games including a tandem of shutouts that were tied for seventh-most in the league and 134th in the country. Gray also tossed in a pair of saves, ranking tied for third in the conference and 140th nationally. While her marks did rise a touch in ODAC play, with a 4.35 ERA and 1.54 WHIP, but Gray did polish off four complete games and posted a 5-3 record in conference action. The 2026 season was probably the most-complete of her tenure in the cardinal and grey, however, as the two-way standout combined her top-line pitching prowess with the strong hitting success that emerged last year. She finished only behind Williams in each triple-slash category for Guilford, as over 36 appearances and 31 starts she swung .389/.441/.533 for a .974 OPS. Along the way, Gray bashed eight doubles, a triple, and her first collegiate homer while driving in 15 runs and scoring 11. Against ODAC competition, Gray hit .321/.400/.393 at the plate.

The Quakers softball squad made a return to postseason competition this season as a late-season surge snuck them into the field of eight as the eighth seed in the ODAC Tournament. While they battled, taking top nationally-ranked VWU all seven frames then were as close as a team can get against fifth-seeded Roanoke, they did ultimately get swept out of the postseason.
