Box Score 2 RALEIGH, N.C. – Guilford College used a powerful offense and sharp pitching to sweep a nonconference softball doubleheader at Peace College Wednesday. The Quakers (3-3) won the opener, 8-1, and the nightcap, 9-0, in five innings.
Guilford rookie Ashley Boteler (1-0) enjoyed a memorable college debut in the opener as she pitched a complete-game five-hitter and belted a solo home run. Boteler went 2-4 and had a two-run single in Guilford's five-run seventh inning. Ami Hutcherson (2-4, RBI) and Morgan Andrews (1-4, RBI) also had run-scoring hits in the frame.
In game two, junior Jessica Burcham (2-1) held Peace (2-8) to two hits by Morgan Weathington and fanned six Pacers in five innings. Kimberly Keys' two-out, three-run triple highlighted the Quakers' five-run third inning. Two Peace errors made all five runs unearned. Keys added an RBI single in the fifth and finished with four runs batted in. Jessica Rowland delivered a pinch-hit, two-run double in the fifth. Hutcherson had another two hits for her fifth multiple-hit game in six outings.
