DANVILLE, Va. (9/8/10) -- Felicia Pajamaki scored her first college goal in the 11th minute and Averett University's defense made it stand for a 1-0 nonconference soccer win over visiting Guilford College Wednesday.  

Pajamaki converted a feed from Annika Rindestedt and booted the ball into the left corner to give the Cougars (3-0) an early lead.  

The rest of the match was fairly even as Averett enjoyed a 15-10 edge in shots. Samantha Lupo made six saves for the shutout, while Amy Baker had five stops for the Quakers (1-3).  

Guilford plays Bluefield College Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the opening game of a weekend tournament hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount, N.C.
