Box Score ASHLAND, Va. (9/18/10) -- Ethan Byrd and Greg Carnovale scored first-half goal in Guilford College's 2-0 win at Randolph-Macon in both team's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) soccer opener. The victory marked Guilford's (5-2, 1-0 ODAC) fifth straight.
Byrd opened the scoring in the 10th minute with his first goal of the season. Richard Page contributed an assist. Carnovale came off the bench and doubled the Quakers' edge in the 33rd minute with his second goal of the year. Ronnie Castellanos picked up the assist.
Guilford controlled play for most of the chippy affair. The Quakers enjoyed a 17-12 edge in shots and had 18 of the game's 28 fouls. Randolph-Macon (3-3, 0-1 ODAC) picked up five yellow cards in the contest.
Quakers' junior goalie Peter Truitt made five saves for the shutout in goal. Philip Marcelo made five of the Yellow Jackets' nine saves in the match.
