Box Score ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (9/1/10) -- North Carolina Wesleyan College staged a late rally Wednesday to pull out a 3-1 men's soccer win over visiting Guilford College in both team's season opener.
The Quakers' Tamer El-Amoor got the guests on the board first with a goal assisted by Ronnie Castellanos in the 61st minute.
Just over four minutes later, Jakob Aronsson headed in Bayron Gudiel's corner kick, which tied the score. The Battling Bishops went ahead on Mark Wielitzka's tally in the 70th minute and added an insurance goal on Frankie Escobar's free kick in the 84th minute.
North Carolina Wesleyan outshot Guilford, 18-5,and enjoyed a 6-1 edge in corner kicks. Peter Truitt made five saves in goal for Guilford in the junior's first action since a season-ending arm injury last fall.
The Quakers open their home schedule Friday (9/3) against Covenant College at 5:00 p.m. The contest marks the first of the three-day Guilford College Soccer Classic Presented by Time Warner Cable.
