Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. (4/14/10) -- Brittany Willingham was 3-4 with a homer and four RBI to help Randolph College's softball team to an 8-4 win over Guilford College Wednesday. The win salvaged a split of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader after the Quakers took a 12-9 opening-game win.
The contests marked Guilford's 'Score for A Cure' games, which raised funds for the American Cancer Society. The Quakers solicited donations from friends and family based on the team's total number of runs scored in the two games. Guilford wore special white caps with pink ribbons to mark the special occasion.
Guilford's Kimberly Keys was 3-4 with a double and two RBI and Julie Langseth added three hits to help the Quakers (25-10-1, 10-4 ODAC) to the opening-game win. Guilford opened an 11-4 lead after four innings, but Randolph (18-20, 5-11 ODAC) got back into the game thanks to Nichole Smith's two-run homer in the fifth and Lindsay Cross' two-run double in the sixth. The Quakers' Jessica Burcham earned her first save with a perfect ninth inning.
Burcham (8-5) started the second game and the Wildcats to got her for four runs in the first two innings. Willingham, the ODAC's leading hitter, hit a two-run homer in the first, an RBI double in the second and a run-scoring single in the three-run fourth as the Wildcats opened an 8-1 lead. The Quakers scored three times in the fifth, but Shelbie West doused the rally and earned the save. Guilford's Langseth was 2-3 with an RBI in the nightcap.
Guilford visits Emory & Henry College Friday (4/16) at 3:00 p.m.
