Box Score 2 STAUNTON, Va. (3/24/10) -- Jessica Burcham threw a complete-game one-hitter in the opener and Guilford College overcame a 3-0 deficit in the nightcap to sweep a nonconference doubleheader at Mary Baldwin College Wednesday. The wins extended the Quakers' (19-4-1) winning streak to five games.
Burcham carried a perfect game into the bottom of the seventh inning before Kelsey Still broke it up with a two-out single to left. Burcham finished with a season-high 12 strikeouts, one shy of the school record. Lauren Duncan hit two solo homers and Morgan Freyer went 1-3 with two RBI to highlight Guilford's offense.
The Squirrels (2-17) took a 3-0 lead in game two on Megan Moyer's three-run homer in the first. Guilford rallied with three runs in the third inning, two off of Julie Langseth's team-leading fifth home run of the season. All five Guilford runs were unearned as the Quakers took advantage of three Mary Baldwin errors and three passed balls.
Guilford returns to action Saturday with an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader versus visiting Eastern Mennonite University at 1:00 p.m.
