Box Score 2 GREENSBORO, N.C. (3/14/10) -- Guilford College rookie Sarah Cutright homered in both games of the Quakers' softball doubleheader sweep of visiting North Carolina Wesleyan College Sunday afternoon.
Cutright, a freshman catcher, made her first college blast a three-run shot in the third inning of the Quakers' 10-1 opening-game win. She also walked and scored in the first inning when teammate Morgan Andrews hit a three-run homer that helped Guilford to an early 4-0 lead. Andrews went 3-3 on the day with four RBI. Rookie Tabitha Poole improved to 3-0 with a five-inning, four-hitter.
Guilford (14-3-1) had to rally for its sixth straight win in game two. North Carolina Wesleyan's Meredith Mills hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to give the Bishops (6-3) a 6-4 lead. The Quakers scratched out four in the bottom of the sixth inning, with Autumn Yoder's two-run double scoring the go-ahead runs. Cutright (2-3) and Courtney Kozar (2-4) also had RBIs in the inning. Charissa Duncan was 3-3 with two doubles for the Quakers. Shelby Bowser earned her team-leading fifth win in relief.
Guilford hosts Old Dominion Athletic Conference-rival Roanoke College Wednesday (3/17) at 3:00 p.m.
